Early Bird registration of EUR 100 per person is now open and will be available until 6 October, as for the Conference. After 7 October and upon arrival, the registration fee will be EUR 120 per person.

One day before the 5th International Translation Technology Terminology Conference, IOLAR jointly with the consultancy and training unit of the International Network for Terminology – TermNet will host this intensive workshop on Terminology Management.

The efficient and effective use of specialised language is a prerequisite for successful communication in the language industry. Competitive business environments with dynamic development processes make it necessary to constantly maintain and update corporate and organisational knowledge and terminology to make it accessible for changing users and user groups. Terminology management, quality assurance in technical documentation, state-of-the-art standards and training of professionals are key factors of success. This workshop aims at sharing terminological know-how and expertise to translators, terminologists, software developers, localizers, and other professions in the field of terminology management and specialised communication.

This workshop is a practice-oriented introductory training course for terminology management for practitioners, professionals and scientists who are looking for a comprehensive, state-of-the-art introduction to terminology theory and practice. Throughout the day, you will learn the basic skills required for creating, organising and managing mono-, bi- or multilingual terminology with focus on translation projects. With tailored theory units, discussion rounds about the specific factors and requirements of the application scenarios in the translation industry and tips and tricks for terminology projects for translation service providers.

The workshop is based on ECQA Certified Terminology Manager – Basic.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The workshop is designed as a theoretical and practical introductory training course on terminology management to help professional, translation companies and freelances, interpreters and terminologists develop their terminology management skills and set up or improve their terminology management system.

The workshop is open to everyone and not only to colleagues who attend the 5th TTT Conference (9-10 November 2017) in Bled.

TRAINERS AND HOSTS

This workshop will be led by Blanca Nájera Villar (TermNet) and Andraž Repar (IOLAR).

Blanca is a distinguished expert and passionate trainer of terminology and co-ordinates the ECQA Certified Terminology Manager trainings and international terminology summer schools. She continuously develops new trainings and learning elements at basic and advanced levels for the skills and competences portfolio of ECQA Certified Terminology Manager certificate. She has been TermNet Deputy Director of TermNet since October 2011.

TermNet offers more than 30 years of expertise in the field of terminology training and is built on a strong network of international, regional and national standardization institutions, scientific institutions and industry thus ensuring that the knowledge gained is based on solid and applicable fundaments.

The European Certification and Qualification Association is a not-for-profit association that aims to unify the certification processes for various professions. It is joining institutions and thousands of professionals from all over Europe and abroad. The ECQA offers the certification of participants for numerous professions. Currently, 30 professions are active in 24 countries across Europe by 60 ECQA members. One of these professions is the ECQA Certified Terminology Manager initiative with more than 850 registrations on the ECQA platform, around 450 certificates issued until now in more than 36 countries, 14 ECQA certified trainers for the CTM job role and 7 European universities on board.

Andraž Repar is Quality Manager at IOLAR and his job is to assess, assure and control the quality of various processes in the company. In addition to quality management, he has several years of experience working as a translator and reviser and is passionate about all things related to language and language technologies. One of his key areas of interest is terminology management, which is the focus of his PhD studies at the International Postgraduate School at the JSI Institute in Ljubljana.

IOLAR is a leading translation company in Southeast Europe. Its services include translation of demanding documentation and software localization for the languages in this geographical area. Apart from that, Iolar is a specialist for implementation of CAT software into translation processes. Iolar is ISO 17100 certificate holder, which proves its dedication to quality and service excellence. Founded in 1998, Iolar today employs 44 highly-educated linguists and engineers. Its headquarters are in Ljubljana and it has offices in Maribor, Zagreb, Belgrade and Graz.
